The barefoot basketball of Triquis
INSTITUTE MEXICO DE HUATULCO – MEXICO
The Triquis are an indigenous population that lives in one of the poorest areas of Mexico, the Mixteca region. Their children are famous for playing barefoot basketball. This skill led them to play in the NBA and challenge European teams like Barcelona. The private IMH institute in Huatulco hosts for free 40 of these children, encouraging them to keep alive their culture and their passion for sport.
