Café Compadre’s solar roasted coffee sustainability
JUAN PABLO PEREZ E CAFÉ COMPADRE – LIMA
Café Compadre was born from a social sustainability project in collaboration with the PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú) in Lima. The goal is to reduce the coffee distribution chain and give farmers a fair compensation. Today Café Compadre has developed a technology to toast coffee with solar energy and has created a circular economy by directly buying the coffee directly from the producers of the Peruvian central forest.
But what happens when there is no sun? Compadre is always looking to improve production’s sustainability and it’s planning to create a biogas backup system, taking advantage of all organic waste from agricultural production.
